Youth Alcohol Awareness Program (YAAP)

YAAP is an alternative sentencing program for those charged with violating Pennsylvania's underage drinking statutes.

The cost to participate in the YAAP is one hundred dollars ($100.00), with fifty dollars ($50.00) payable prior to session one and ten dollars ($10.00) payable each of the remaining five sessions. Non-payment will result in unsuccessful completion of the program and referral back to the district justice.

The goal of the YAAP is to have the participants examine the role alcohol plays in their lives and to help them to understand that not being involved with alcohol is a normal, positive, and desirable choice. Participants are encouraged to make the changes necessary in their own lives to avoid further alcohol related problems, so that they may have a better chance to become successful and achieve their goals.

Personal Solutions Inc. provides a liaison to the Student Assistance Program teams within the county to provide technical assistance and help facilitate access to appropriate treatment.
